Sometimes it is hard to express feelings with words, especially when dealing with relationships come to an end. However, the indie rock artist Castorp managed to truly share through words and music his delusion after a break-up.
The South London based artist released his latest track “Phoenix” on Valentine’s day, delivering a song contrasting the romantic trend that usually fills the airplays around mid of February every year.
Castorp, aka Steffan Davies, returns with his newest release after his previous track “Last Night On Earth” gained support from Amazing Radio, Radio X and BBC Introducing, among others. He has already performed sold out headline shows in London and played with artists like Jakob Ogawa, Swimming Tapes and YOWL.
With a deep passion for legendary artist Leonard Cohen, Castorp gives new life to the nostalgic sounds of classic seventies songwriting, with melancholic beats and intense lyrics. If you aim to attend one of his live shows, take note of his performance announced for March, 18 at Brixton Windmill.
About his sincere new song, Castorp said: “‘Phoenix’ was written at a time when the illogical side of my brain still thought that I would somehow wake up one morning to find that life was back to the way it used to be”. If there was a soundtrack for lost love, “Phoenix” would definitely be part of the track list.
