Indie Folk Artist Apollo Flowerchild Releases New Single ‘Bloody Hands’ | Music News

Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Apollo Flowerchild has unveiled their second single “Bloody Hands”. This is the first offering born from the collaboration between the singer and Trans Trenderz, a record label dedicated to bring the spotlight on Black trans artists.

The track is a hypnotic, introspective and memorable brooder, that showcases the beauty of Apollo’s soulful baritone. Their powerful voice helps making “Bloody Hands” an immediate anthemic tune, which lyrics find their own unique inspiration from a short jaunt the artist took to Gay Camp through the LGBTQ Centre in NYC in 2016.

A New York-based indie-folk artist, Apollo Flowerchild is a Black trans artist who has been writing songs for five years, developing their voice and songwriting to cover complex subjects, highlighting the bright side of things. Apollo was raised with an emphasis on choice, which increased their independence and self-awareness, the very quality that brought this song to life.

“Bloody Hands” is one of the first songs to come out of Trans Trenderz’s The Ghostly Beats Project, a collaborative effort with seven-time Grammy-nominated producer Joel Hamilton of Studio G in Brooklyn. Hamilton mixed the track, and Blxck Cxsper, the label’s founder, produced it. The project aims at providing the opportunity for marginalised artists to record their music professionally and work with music industry vets.

This sounds exciting, and “Bloody Hands” is a very promising effort from both Trans Trenderz and Apollo Flowerchild.
