January 19 would have been Mac Miller’s 29th birthday, this is why Mac Miller’s longtime DJ and friend DJ Clockwork has honored him with the release of A Mac Miller Story Remixxed.
This 48-minutes special project described as “An extremely rare mix of edits, remixes & mashups never heard before” features 14 remixes of Miller most beloved songs such as “Kool-Aid & Frozen Pizza”, “The Spins”, “Dang!”, “Nikes On My Feet”, and “Jump”.
“Mac, what’s up dude? It’s your boy Clock. Just checking in, saying happy birthday,” the DJ says at the beginning of the project.
“I love you. Love to your family. This is a mix I put together for you. I hope you up there partying with Prince. Tell 2Pac I said what up. Tell Biggie I said what up. I love you man, just sitting here thinking about everything that we’ve been through, we’ve learned from each other and all the fun things that we did on tour, and the amazing life we were living. Thank you so much, Mac”.
The DJ says in the project’s SoundCloud description that he did this mix with the blessing of the late rapper’s family. Mac Miller’s friends and associates like Thundercat and Bill Niels of Daily Bread also contribute spoken-word interludes to the project.
In August 2018, Mac Miller released his last album Swimming, one month he passed away due to an accidental drug overdose, and January of 2020 saw the release of Circles, a posthumous Mac Miller project produced and completed by Jon Brion.
