British Hip-Hop Label Big Dada has officially announced its relaunch. Big Dada was founded in 1997 by Will Ashon (who left in 2014) and is one of the most pioneering hip-hop labels.
The independent British label has already counted artists such as Run The Jewels, Diplo, Wiley and many others among its artists, and they have most recently worked with artists such as Hype Williams, Sampa The Great and Roots Manuva.
In a statement, the record company revealed that it will be led by “Black, POC & Minority Ethnic Ninja Tune staff members for Black, POC & Minority Ethnic artists”.
Big Dada seeks to amplify the voices of black and racialised artists by circumventing stereotypes to allow and encourage freedom to express themselves for who they are and want to be.
The UK label relaunch includes a brand new logo, a change of website. This will include a resource section giving access to a variety of industry advice, as well as general legal advice, mental health resources for black artists, as well as editorials and extensive readings that explore a selection of musical scenes and movements.
Big Dada has a long history and heritage, and the label will use it to provide resources for a new generation of artists.
