Virgil Abloh, artistic director of Off-White, launched its spring-summer 2021 collection through an immersive digital experience called Imaginary TV.
Each season, Off-White’s art director innovates to present his collections in the best possible way. This time he did not disappoint his consumers for the release of the spring-summer 2021 collection with his new Imaginary TV platform. An exclusively digital experience in which he presented the male and female silhouettes of his Adam is Eve wardrobe.
Everyone could participate in this experience directly via their smartphone or computer. Indeed, Imaginary TV proposes a digital performance related to the collection, featuring multiple talents chosen by Virgil Abloh.
For example, users were able to watch live performances by Nigerian rocker Mdou Moctar and Tai Chi Olympic athlete Liang Biying.
Virgil Abloh says about the project: “The idea of “Imaginary TV” stems from a poetic vision for, and of, the evermore virtual world – I want to connect and generate a global network and bring together creativity while catalysing a range of emotions.
We’re living in a world and at a time that is already largely digitally native. With the collection itself, I wanted to capture what it is to be human at this very moment. Conundrum is OK, glitches are OK, duality is OK, and a dissolution of norms is OK”.
The title of the collection, ‘Adam Is Eve’, even aims to erase sexist boundaries and codes, by erasing the codes between male and female, Virgil Abloh presents similar clothes for both sexes, such as long skirts.
The spring/summer 2021 collection drops in stores starting today. Watch the video of the collection and the collection photos below as well.
