UK singer and songwriter Grace Davies has released her new single titled “I Met A Boy Online”, along with a new music video premiered on her YouTube channel.
Hailing from Langho, Grace has been gigging and performing in events since the age of 16, and talking about performing, Grace says, “The only thing that I love to do in life is perform and I think it’s when I’m the happiest and that’s all I really want to do“.
Back in 2017, Grace took part in The X-Factor, where she ended up in the top two with Rak-Su and finished as the runner-up of the competition.
In 2018, Grace Davies confirmed that she had signed to Simon Cowell’s record label Syco Music and in 2020, her debut single “Invisible” was released, which was followed by her second single “Addicted To Blue” and her debut EP Friends With The Tragic written between the UK & Sweden, alongside heavyweights Lauren Aquilina, Adam Argyle and producer Elias Kapari.
Friends With The Tragic has gained over 8 millions streams and received massive praise from MTV UK, The Sunday Times, Official Charts and Popjustice. The singer has also gained lots of support from BBC Introducing, BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 1 DJ, Danny Howards.
Her latest single “I Met A Boy Online” was co-written and produced with her friend and writer Frances (Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, Maisie Peters). The simple production embraces Davies’ vulnerability, relatable lyrics and emotive vocals.
“I Met A Boy Online” was composed during the first lockdown in the UK, and like many other singletons, Grace adjusted to new approaches of online dating, and the 23-year old artist explains, “‘I Met A Boy Online is probably the most transparent song I’ve ever written. There aren’t really any metaphors or hidden messages within the lyrics, it’s just a straight-forward, sad-girl pop song“.
She added that, “I wrote it during lockdown, whilst I was experiencing self-doubt when talking to a boy I’d met on a dating app. Because of the lockdown restrictions, we were basically dating virtually – which was a really new and weird experience, and therefore I was left alone with my thoughts and started to doubt whether he would feel the same way about me if he actually met me in person“.
2020 definitely marked the start of a new era in Grace’s career and has established her reputation as a deft songwriter. 2021 is going to be even more productive, with the artist releasing more new material and an EP on the way! We congratulate her on the new single and can’t wait to listen to her upcoming EP!
