Set to appear on her upcoming Overgown album, the rising R&B star Joyce Wrice has teamed up with Freddie Gibbs for the release of her brand new single, “On One”.
Produced by D’Mile, the three-and-a-half-minute track gives a taste of Joyce’s project and demonstrates the obvious sonic chemistry between Wrice and Gibbs.
“On One” offers lovesick lyricism over a guitar-led beat through both the Japanese-American singer lines such as “Sometimes I want to cut it up, but with you I can choose / You got me on one” and Gibbs dropping bars like “Ride for her, the game dirty but my heart pure”.
So far, “On One” and her previously released lead single “So So Sick”, which arrived with a music video in late 2020, are the only tracks we have from Overgown that we know is due out on March 19.
The 14-track album will also include features from names like Masego, UMI, KAYTRANADA, Westside Gunn, Devin Morrison and Lucky Daye, who she also worked with earlier this month on a track titled “Falling In Love” from his Table For Two EP.
Joyce shared the cover artwork and details about the forthcoming album in a one-minute teaser which you can watch here:
