Anya Taylor-Joy To Reunite With ‘The Witch’ Director Robert Eggers On ‘Nosferatu’ Remake

Anya Taylor-Joy first announced herself to the world with her performance in Robert Eggers‘ 2015 film The Witch, and now that she’s a bigger star, she’s reuniting with him for another horror film.

Taylor-Joy has signed on to star in a remake of classic 1922 silent film Nosferatu, a loose adaptation of Bram Stoker‘s Dracula.

Even though the news of Taylor-Joy joining the cast is new, Eggers has been developing a Nosferatu remake for some time.

He first talked about it after the 2015 premiere of The Witch at the Sundance Film Festival, but hasn’t been able to enter production on the project, instead choosing to work on The Lighthouse and upcoming film The Northman.

Taylor-Joy’s role is unspecified, and there isn’t really any other information about the film despite Eggers’ known interest in it for six years.

Werner Herzog previously remade Nosferatu as Nosferatu The Vampire in 1979, while John Malkovich and Willem Dafoe starred in Shadow Of The Vampire, a 2000 fictional documentary about the making of the 1922 film.

This won’t be the first time Taylor-Joy has reunited with Eggers, as she has a role in The Northman, which also stars Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, and Alexander Skarsgard. It’s currently in post-production, and is scheduled to be released on April 8, 2022.

Taylor-Joy also stars in Edgar Wright‘s Last Night In Soho, which premieres at the Venice Film Festival next month before a wide October release.

She’s also one of the many big names in David O. Russell‘s untitled period comedy, which also stars Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Zoe Saldana, Rami Malek, and Robert De Niro.

She’s also on board to star in thriller The Menu, George Miller‘s Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa, and another thriller titled Laughter In The Dark.

These are the kinds of roles one gets when starring in a immensely popular series like The Queen’s Gambit. Don’t be surprised if Taylor-Joy is an even bigger household name once all these films arrive.
