Martin McDonagh (Seven Psychopaths, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) has reportedly secured Oscar Isaac, Sam Rockwell, and Christopher Walken for his next film.
There aren’t currently any details regarding the project, but Deadline reports that it’s a “hot script” that several studios are interested in.
Four offers have reportedly already come in for McDonagh’s latest, which makes sense as Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, his previous film, secured multiple Oscar nominations and wins, including a Best Supporting Actor gong for Rockwell. Walken also previously worked with McDonagh on Seven Psychopaths.
Despite this big news, the film won’t be McDonagh’s Three Billboards follow up, as he’s already working on a new film titled The Banshees Of Inisherin starring his other frequent collaborator, Colin Farrell.
The plot there is under wraps too, but it reportedly revolves around a conflict between a group of friends. The film also stars Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan.
This new film looks to be in the earliest stages of development, but it speaks to McDonagh’s stature as both screenwriter and director that he’s already got some big names secured.
Isaac recently starred in Dune and Paul Schrader‘s The Card Counter, as well as the HBO miniseries Scenes From A Marriage. He’s got dark comedy Big Gold Brick in post-production, while he’ll also be seen starring in MCU Disney+ series Moon Knight next year.
Rockwell’s last live-action role was a supporting one in Clint Eastwood‘s Richard Jewell. He’ll next be seen in mystery film See How They Run and Matthew Vaughn‘s spy movie Argylle.
Walken recently starred in biographical drama Percy and had a smaller role in romantic comedy Wild Mountain Thyme. He’ll next be seen in Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Licorice Pizza.
The Banshees Of Inisherin will take center stage once it arrives – it’s currently filming, so a late 2022 release is possible – but McDonagh’s pipeline of witty dark comedies shows no sign of slowing down.
