Margaret Qualley has signed on to executive produce and star in The End Of Getting Lost, a thriller in the works for Amazon that also has Normal People star Paul Mescal on board.
The film will be based on the upcoming book of the same name by Robin Kirman, and focuses on the story of a young couple in the 90s who are taking a romantic honeymoon across Europe. However, after Gina suffers a head injury, her memories become fuzzy and she becomes more and more suspicious that the man claiming to be her husband, Duncan, is hiding something.
Deniz Gamze Ergüven, who previously directed the acclaimed 2015 Turkish coming-of-age film Mustang and has also helmed episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale and Perry Mason, has signed on to direct the film. Kirman will write the script herself, adapting it from her own book.
Dakota Johnson and Ro Donnelley will produce the film through their Tea Time Pictures banner, which they also used to produce Am I OK? and Cha Cha Real Smooth, two films that recently got rave reviews at the Sundance Film Festival. Johnson featured on screen in both of those, but it’s currently unknown if she intends to appear in The End Of Getting Lost.
Qualley broke out in Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood for playing a Manson cult member. She’s since starred in Netflix series Maid and was nominated for an Emmy for her performance in FX’s Fosse/Verdon.
Mescal was also nominated for an Emmy for Normal People, and recently appeared alongside Johnson in Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s directorial debut, The Lost Daughter.
The novel version of The End Of Getting Lost is due to be released on Tuesday, February 15. Production on the film version will likely begin sometime later this year.
