Drake and Josh fans will be excited to hear that Josh Peck will be starring in Christopher Nolan’s World War II epic, Oppenheimer.
The film is a biopic of J. Robert Oppenheimer, a scientist who helped create the atomic bomb and worked on the covert nuclear weapon operation, the Manhattan Project, during the Second World War. Nolan has adapted the screenplay from Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin’s Pulitzer-winning book “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer”.
The Nickelodeon star, Peck, will play Kenneth Bainbridge, a scientist who was involved in the Manhattan Project.
Peck will be joining a plethora of highly acclaimed actors in the upcoming biopic. For example, Cillian Murphey is taking the lead as J. Robert Oppenheimer, with Emily Blunt playing his wife Kitty Oppenheimer. Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr. and Florence Pugh are also amongst the army of actors who will play the real life scientists involved in Oppenheimer’s life.
Peck’s career began as a child actor in a variety of Nickelodeon comedies. He first appeared in The Amanda Show between 2000-2002 before rising to fame for his role as Josh Nicholas in the sitcom, Drake and Josh (2004-2007). Since then the 35-year-old actor has appeared in many films and television shows, and has created his own comedy YouTube channel.
Oppenhiemer is set to release on July 21, 2023 by Universal Studios. This will be the first of Nolan’s films not be distributed by Warner Bros. Studios since 2000, after a disagreement between the director and the production company.
