Irish Singer-Songwriter Síomha Releases New Album ‘Infinite Space’

Infinite Space, the debut album by Irish artist Síomha was released on April 22, 2022. It is a unique collection of 11 tracks in Irish and English. The heartfelt and enduring lyrics combined with the deep complexity of the arrangements make the songs unique yet immediately accessible.

The world of this new project could be described as a kind of cosmic, folk-informed, jazz-tinged post-pop – listeners are comforted by a certain familiarity while being catapulted into a space of ethereal newness and musical mastery.

The album, which was recorded in Ann Arbor, MI, was produced by Grammy-nominated Tyler Duncan (Carly Rae Jepsen/Theo Katzman/The Olllam).

It also features a stellar group of musicians including Joe Dart (Vulfpeck), Louis Cato (Bobby McFerrin/ Snarky Puppy), Michael Shimmin (the olllam), Martin Atkinson Borrul (TOUCAN) and violinist Jeremy Kittel (Bela Fleck/ Chris Thile).

“The album is an exploration of our ability as humans to change, to break the habits and patterns imposed upon us from a young age by family and society through fully engaging with our true selves, exploring both the light and dark within and around us”, explains Síomha (pronounced She-vah).

It was her father, a traditional Irish musician, who instilled a love of music in Síomha. She grew up in the West of Ireland and discovered the stage in an Irish language elementary school where music and singing were revered. She picked up the guitar at the age of 10 and began to find her own voice by writing songs soon after.

Síomha, through the wisdom of her lyrics and the power of her voice, asks some of the most relevant and important questions of today and conveys them with courage, transcendence and humanity. Her voice is imbued with a raw and heartfelt experience that brings the audience to the depths of themselves and leaves them more intimately connected to their own world.

“Infinite Space” is a musical narrative that gives meaning to life. It is a statement of the individual as part of a greater whole. Listening to this album is like being embraced by a midnight sky, feeling the stars light up in your heart and hearing the roots grow under your feet, all at the same time.
