Michelle Pfeiffer has signed on to star in Wild Four O’Clocks, the directorial debut of Peter Craig, who continues his good year having already written Matt Reeves‘ The Batman and having a story credit on the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick.
After their father is sent to prison, two young brothers are placed in the care of their estranged grandmother, a vibrant and larger-than-life woman who will quickly have to learn how to care for the heartbroken yet strong-willed boys.
Marc Platt (La La Land) and Adam Siegel (Drive) are producing the project. Protagonist Pictures are handling international sales and will introduce it to buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Market. Protagonist head of sales Janina Vilsmaier said in a statement:
“Launching Craig’s directorial debut, which is an uplifting and universal tale of family bonding told through the eyes of a child, in the great tradition of American storytelling, is a huge honor. Michelle’s magnetism and deeply nuanced performance style makes her the perfect choice to lead this heart-warming and inspiring drama.”
Pfeiffer’s latest film was Azazel Jacobs‘ 2020 oddity French Exit. She appeared in two episodes of Showtime anthology series The First Lady earlier this year, playing Betty Ford. She’s currently filming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Craig’s credits also include The Town, The Unforgivable, and Bad Boys For Life. Along with Wild Four O’Clocks, he’s also set to write the upcoming sequel to Ridley Scott‘s Gladiator.
