Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars) has signed on to star in romantic comedy Which Brings Me To You, which will see her reunite with The Hating Game director Peter Hutchings.
The film is an adaptation of Julianna Baggott and Steve Almond‘s novel about a journalist and a photographer who, instead of a one-night stand, spend 24 hours sharing their romantic histories in the coat room at a friend’s wedding.
Hale will play Jane, a journalist who finds herself ready to hook up with photographer Will during a wedding. But instead of doing the deed, they instead share stories of their most embarrassing sexual encounters, first loves, heartbreak and whirlwind romances, discovering each other through heartwarming, hilarious and sometimes tragic tales.
Keith Bunin (Onward) has written the screenplay, and Claude Dal Farra and Brian Keady of BCDF Pictures are producing. Mister Smith Entertainment will sell the project at the Cannes Film Festival.
“We are excited to be working again with Peter and Lucy on what will be a fun and moving adaptation of Steve Almond and Julianna Baggott‘s wonderful novel,” Dal Farra said.
The Hating Game was an adaptation of the Sally Thorne novel of the same name, so Hale and Hutchings seem to have a thing for making adaptations of popular romance novels. Hale was recently seen in dark comedy film Big Gold Brick and thriller series Ragdoll. She also has The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry dropping later this year.
Which Brings Me To You is expected to begin filming this summer.
