Susan Sarandon & Fat Joe To Star In Animated Series ‘The Movers’

Here’s one nobody saw coming: Susan Sarandon and Fat Joe have signed on to voice the lead roles in The Movers, a new animated series in the works at Fox. The series will follow a Manhattan-based moving company and all the drama that occurs inside and outside the walls of their trucks.

Rated as the 78th best moving business in the city, the crew behind The Movers will try to claw their way to the top while keeping it cool and calm amidst the heavy items and bumper-to-bumper traffic.

The idea for the series comes from Sarandon, her son Jack Henry Robbins, and Danielle Uhlarik. The latter two will pen the script, while both are named as co-creators and executive producers alongside Sarandon. Fat Joe will also serve as an executive producer, with Bento Box Entertainment producing the whole project.

This is the second Fox project which Sarandon is attached to. She’ll next be seen in the country music drama Monarch in one of the lead roles. The show was originally meant to debut in January but will now premiere later this year.

Sarandon needs no introduction to audiences who have watched film and TV anytime in the last four decades. Joe however, is best known for his rap career, having released ten studio albums to date. His most well known hit was probably 2004’s ‘Lean Back,’ which he released in conjunction with hip-hop group Terror Squad.

Since his music career died down a bit, Joe has turned to acting, appearing in Netflix’s She’s Gotta Have It series, and films such as Night School and Fearless.

There are numerous animated shows released each year, so it’s hard to know which ones will be hits or which will have a solitary season and then fade into obscurity. The Movers has the benefit of premiering on Fox, which has long been known for its animated content ever since The Simpsons debuted. We’ll see if it can stick around as long.
