“Invitation,” the latest single from UK-based Belgian-American artist Speelburg (Noah Sacré) is an energetic celebration of youth and the excitement of being in the eye of a hurricane. With a combination of explosive trumpets and a galloping string section, the track is chaotic, beautiful, and most importantly, fun.
Speelburg’s passion for music is evident in his work. After spending the last few years in England writing “pop music for important people,” he moved to California in search of the weather he experienced in the south of France.
During his time in the UK, he received BBC Radio 1’s Chillest Record of the Week for his single “Headlights” and garnered praise from Clash magazine, which defined his music as “startlingly unique electro pop.” Pigeons & Planes went even further, describing Speelburg as “a force to be reckoned with.”
In the past few months, the Belgian-American musician has finished work on two solo albums, with the second set to be released first. Character Actor, due out in late summer 2019, is a bright compilation of ten songs that will be accompanied by Arcobaleno, a (very) short film that he directed himself using footage from Instagram and across the internet.
Speelburg’s music videos are just as captivating as his music. Whether he’s paying tribute to three Sofia Coppola films in his video for “Screener Season,” hand-drawing and animating the video for “Headlights,” or showing off his affection for watermelon and short-shorts in the video for his looming single “Oxy Cotton Candy,” Sacré is just as talented a visual artist as he is a musician.
“Invitation” is a celebration of being young and excited about being in the storm’s eye. With its explosive horns and prancing guitar riff, the track captures everything that is lovely, messy, and pleasurable. It’s the perfect addition to any summer playlist and is sure to get anyone up and dancing.
Overall, Speelburg is a unique and talented artist with a bright future ahead of him. His music is a breath of fresh air in the often-saturated world of pop, and his visual artistry is equally impressive. With two new albums on the way and a rapidly growing fanbase, Speelburg is definitely a musician to watch.
