The London-based artist Barny Fletcher is back with a brand-new single, “Masterpiece.” Known for his eclectic blend of hip-hop, R&B, pop, and disco, Fletcher’s newest track is a funky exploration of love and music.
“Masterpiece” combines groovy funk with elements of disco and robust percussion, further emphasizing Fletcher’s vast stylistic range.
The song tells a tale of a musician travelling from town to town, his mission to make a beautiful woman he encounters in Los Angeles stay, solely by making her dance.
Fletcher describes the song as a ‘disco-infused’ track, structurally similar to “Love Comes Down,” one of his all-time favorite songs.
“Masterpiece” follows closely on the heels of “WOO!,” the first single released off Fletcher’s debut album, “Lonestar,” due to be released on August 25 via Guin Records.
“WOO!” gained substantial traction on Spotify, landing on playlists such as New Music Friday UK and Fresh Finds. The song has also earned critical acclaim from notable outlets such as Dork and EARMILK.
The forthcoming album, Lonestar, explores themes of young love and self-discovery, with each song serving as a chapter of Fletcher’s road trip to California. The album is designed to reflect the energy and charisma that have characterized Fletcher’s artistry since the beginning of his music career.
Fletcher’s previous work, including the mixtape “JETPACK” released in Fall 2022, has been well-received. Standout tracks like “Intergirlactic” and “Backstroke” underscored his unique flow and established him as an artist to watch in 2023.
Fletcher’s talent and unique sound have earned him support from BBC’s Radio 1, Australia’s Triple J, and led to opportunities such as collaborating with DJ Shadow, participating in a Euro 2020 fashion design campaign with Umbro, and having his music included in the soundtrack for Michaela Coel’s HBO series, I May Destroy You.
