Moschino‘s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, unveiled at Milan Fashion Week, marks the debut of Adrian Appiolaza as the brand’s new creative director.
Following the sudden passing of his predecessor, Davide Renne, Appiolaza took over the reins just a few weeks ago, inheriting a legacy of creativity and innovation.
In a tribute to Moschino’s founder, Franco Moschino, Appiolaza delved into the brand’s archives to create a collection that pays homage to its heritage while incorporating it with a modern twist.
Moving away from the extravagant collections of previous seasons, Appiolaza has focused on ease of use, offering a range of versatile clothing that combines playful spirit with sophisticated elegance.
Inspired by iconic Moschino motifs such as question marks, peace signs, and polka dots, the collection features playful slogans and trompe-l’oeil prints that reflect the spirit of the brand.
Oversized silhouettes, asymmetrical ruffles, and quirky accessories add a touch of eccentricity to the lineup, while maintaining an underlying sense of practicality.
Appiolaza’s personal connection to the brand shines through in every detail, from his homage to Moschino’s signature shirts and waistcoats to his meticulous attention to craftsmanship and design. By marrying tradition with innovation, Appiolaza sets the stage for an exciting new chapter in Moschino’s storied history.
“The idea was to play with real archetypes of ready-to-wear, creating characters,” explained Appiolaza backstage. This approach highlights his commitment to honoring Moschino’s legacy while pushing the boundaries of contemporary fashion.
As Moschino embarks on this new journey under Appiolaza’s leadership, the future looks promising. With a renewed focus on wearability, wit, and a touch of theatricality, Moschino is ready to captivate audiences old and new, reaffirming its status as a beacon of creativity and style in the fashion world.
