Fashion maverick Dapper Dan, known for his iconic custom designs, steps into a new role as creative director for Sherwin-Williams‘ latest campaign, ‘The Loneliest Color.’
The campaign spotlights Kingdom Gold SW 6698, a shade of yellow that symbolizes achievement and elevation, despite being the least tinted in Sherwin-Williams’ palette.
Dapper Dan’s excitement about the collaboration shines through: “This is one of the hallmarks of my career.” Partnering with Sherwin-Williams’ Director of Color Marketing, Sue Wadden, Dapper Dan crafts eight unique pieces that blend Kingdom Gold with vibrant purples, reds, and blues.
Each garment, from velour track jackets to embossed leather jackets, embodies wearable art, celebrating the beauty of the loneliest color with power. “I wanted to take historical pieces and Sherwin-Williams colors and bring them all together,” Dapper Dan explains.
The collection, auctioned on eBay from April 4 to April 14, will benefit Habitat for Humanity, with a minimum contribution of $100,000. A portion of the proceeds will support affiliate organizations in Harlem, reinforcing Dapper Dan’s commitment to his community.
Dapper Dan’s influence transcends his designs, as seen in Louis Vuitton’s recent homage during their Men’s Fall/Winter 2024 presentation. Reflecting on Pharrell Williams’ collection for Louis Vuitton, Dapper Dan remarks, “Pharrell is a confirmation of what I’ve done.”
