Peter Copping had some very large shoes to fill as the Creative Director for Oscar De La Renta, at this year’s New York Fashion Week, which is the first show for the brand, since the iconic designer De La Renta tragically passed away last year aged 82. A true renegade in his field, he pinpointed the term ‘first lady’ fashion and had gone on to dress Hollywood a-listers including Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City. Prior to his death, Oscar had also designed for Hollywood royalty that is George and Amal Clooney.
He certainly has made his mark in fashion with his styles that embody the very essence of femininity. Therefore the new Creative Director Peter Copping had to make sure his NYFW debut for the brand went out with a bang! The 48-year old British designer with a successful 20-year fashion career in Paris seemed unfettered at such a mountainous task and he did a great job. He realised all of Oscar De La Renta’s vision through the collections on display during the show with much pomp and vigour. We wish Copping every success in his endeavours at Oscar De la Renta in the coming weeks.
