On June 30, Apple are due to release their in-house radio station called Beats 1. The stations main DJs will be Zane Lowe, Ebro Darden and Julia Adengua, but The New York Times reports that several musicians will also be taking their turn to host shows on the station, and amongst these artist are Drake, Dr. Dre, Disclosure, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Jaden Smith, Elton John and Pharrell.
Dr Dre, who co-founded the Beats company that lends the station its name will be hosting a show called ‘The Pharmacy’. The New York Times has also reported that the musicians are due to ‘host and plan the shows themselves’. A monthly subscription to Apple Musics streaming service will cost $9.99 but Beats 1 will be free, ad-supported and available to anyone that owns an Apple device. Lowe’s first interview on Beats 1 will be with Eminem.
