‘Naruto’ Live-Action Movie In The Works | Film News

Fans of the long-standing manga and anime series Naruto are probably cringing at the idea of a live action adaptation, as many anime franchise fans do, when faced with such a headline – as Hollywood often misses the mark with anime-turned-live films; Dragonball: Evolution or The Last Airbender being good examples.

However, Variety reports that Lionsgate is in negotiation with former visual effects specialist Michael Gracey to direct the adaptation of Masashi Kishimoto’s manga series Naruto, about a young ninja boy whose dream is to become the villages’ next Hokage, the leader. Avi Arad has been attached to the project over the last year and is in talks to produce the picture. The Naruto live action film will join 700+ manga volumes, 644 anime episodes, and 10 anime movies in the franchise. There has been no further word on the cast or the production team.
