This minimal teaser is our first look at the upcoming Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, from the fantastically macabre Tim Burton. Although it reveals very little about the film, we can identify the gothic trappings that have become Burton’s signature style. 20th Century Fox released the teaser on September 3, or Loop Day, a date singly important to the central characters of the film.
Loop Day is a recurring period of time where the main body of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children takes place. A single day, September 3, 1945, that is replayed over and over by the owner of the mysterious time-piece seen in this short tease. Read a brief synopsis of the film below.
Jacob Portman (Asa Butterfield) has always been an outcast. Forced to work for the family business, he is snubbed by the other children; free to enjoy their lives outside of school. Jacob wants to be an explorer, but as his Mum has explained, everything to be discovered already has been! His only comfort comes from his Grandfather’s stories; full of horror and mystery, monsters and magic.
After his Grandfather is killed by a supernatural creature, Jacob travels to Wales to learn the truth about his family’s history. There he finds an inexplicable orphanage inhabited by strange children and their teacher, Miss Peregrine (Eva Green).
It seems there could still be some mysteries out there worth exploring for young Jacob. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is based on Ransom Riggs’ novel of the same name, and also stars Asa Butterfield, Ella Purnell, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp, Rupert Everett, with Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson. The film will hit UK cinemas on March 4, 2016. Find out more about Loop Day and the film itself below.
