With Joss Whedon‘s cut of Avengers: Age of Ultron running upwards of three hours, it was obvious that some things would have to go. The heroes’ second outing included notable side plots for most of the cast; providing much needed character development for some of the less defined members of the team. One key sequence involving the norse god, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), was eventually cut in an effort to streamline the film for mainstream audiences.
The scene, which features Thor and Dr. Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard), shows the hero becoming possessed by the Fates in order to make sense of his apocalyptic visions. Why this scene was set aside we cannot be sure, possibly because Thor already has two solo cinematic outings, while team members Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Mark Ruffalo‘s Hulk are yet to garner their own films. For all the Thor fans out there, the scene will be featured on the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron Blu-Ray, 3D Blu-Ray, and DVD, available from September 29. Check out the deleted scene below.
