ITV’s panel show, Loose Women, may be known for its controversy here and there, but over the weekend it’s faced a backlash like no other after Nadia Sawalha claimed it might be “fashionable” to be transgender. The panelist claimed her daughter had mentioned other serious issues such as self-harm and bulimia were mere trends in her school.
However this caused outrage on social media; “Disgusting” and “Disappointing” being two words used to describe the host. In a time where transgender issues are such a hot topic, with people such as Laverne Cox and Caitlyn Jenner coming to prominence, this could be seen as a big step back for the trans community in mainstream media.
