Oscar Award-winning actress turned director Angelina Jolie has released the trailer for her new biopic film on American athlete turned soldier Louis Zamperini. Directed and produced by Jolie, the film on Louis Zamperini played by Jack O’ Connell, was shot on location mostly in Australia and the story tells the life of the Olympic athlete who enlists in the Air-force during World War II. Having survived forty-seven days in the Pacific Ocean following a plane crash, the Japanese found him on their shores and held him prisoner for two years.
This isn’t the first time Angelina Jolie has stepped behind the camera. Her directorial debut came on the 2011 film In The Land Of Blood And Honey which she also wrote. Set during the Bosnian war, the film told the story of a Bosnian-Serb soldier Danijel who finds out his true love Ajla is a Bosnian and is therefore his enemy and now a prisoner. Unbroken – with screenplay provided by Joel and Ethan Coen – will be released by Universal Pictures in US cinemas on December 25, 2014.
