CBS will be airing a pilot episode for a new CSI spin-off TV show based on special cyber crime specialist agent called Avery Ryan living in Quantico, Virginia. CBS cancelled CSI: New York and CSI: Miami in 2012 but the mothership CSI series is now in its 14th season. This new CSI spin-off is inspired by Irish cyber-psychologist Mary Aiken who will also serve as producer on the show, the show will be introduced via a special episode during the current season of the regular CSI series.
The pitch and general theme for the new show can be summarised in one quote from the show producers – “technology, as we know it, has amplified human behaviour to the point where faceless criminals are committing crimes at global proportions with a touch of a button“. Regular CSI producers Carol Mendelsohn, Anthony E. Zuiker and Ann Donahue will work on the forthcoming show. CBS are also working on developing another NCIS spin-off show which will be based in New Orleans. The new CSI spin-off will air in the spring.
