Submarine thriller Hunter Killer has been in limbo for a few years now, ever since Gerard Butler jumped ship in favour of Olympus Has Fallen. However, Butler is now back on board for the project and he is accompanied by acting veteran Gary Oldman.
Hunter Killer is the story adapted from George Wallace and Don Keith‘s novel Firing Point about a Russian General who kidnaps the President of Russia to provoke World War III. Thrown into the mix are rookie submarine captain Joe Glass (Gerard Butler) and a team of Navy SEALS. Oldman will be appearing as an American diplomat who will no doubt be calling the shots.
Currently there is no director attached to the project, but it has only just awoken from its slumber so it is still early days. However there have been a number of names linked in the past: Philip Noyce; Martin Campbell; and McG to name a few.
As is to be expected, there is no release date set for the project, but we can next expect to see Oldman in The Space Between Us and Butler in London Has Fallen, coming July 29 and March 3 respectively. Check out the trailer to London Has Fallen below.
