Slipknot‘s Corey Taylor and Shawn Crahan appeared on the BBC Documentary Artsnight, which aired last night (February 5) on BBC Two.
On the show the two members discussed the role their famous masks play and how the visual imagery has shaped the success of the band.
In the trailer, which you can watch below, Taylor describes how the band’s look impressed him even before joining the band and how the masks allow the person on the inside to be represented without the conventional bounderies that society impose, letting “that animal off the chain as far as you really want to go”.
Meanwhile, Crahan discusses the authenticity that they manage to reach everytime they put the masks on, covering not just the face, but also the “crappy vanity” on which we focus too much.
