Not content with being part of the world’s most famous bands Duran Duran, Simon Le Bon has made his feelings about modern-day music clear to in an interview with Legend Magazine. Him and his supermodel wife Yasmin Le Bon will appear together on the April issue of the magazine and have been married for over 30 years.
Simon believes “the scope for rebellion is really big now” especially among young artists. “I think we’re due a big, big, musical rebellion. And I’m looking forward to it”. Simon has never been one to shy away from controversy and has often challenged the norms of music.
In 2013 he publically shamed the Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and T.I, For there objectifying “Blurred Lines” video. This prompted many to call him a hypocrite given how women are portrayed in videos for Duran Duran hits like “Girls on Film” for example.
Simon also set straight the rumours that he might join The Voice when it moves to ITV next year: “My band would kill me… I mean, never say never but… I don’t want to be part of the establishment. It feels like giving in… It’s money. It’s tainted money and it’s not good for artists”.His attitude towards the music industry and his commitment to his music and Hsiang band doesn’t seem to have changed since the 80s and despite him turning 58 this year!
