Singing superstar Adele has revealed she “kept spontaneously bursting into tears” after her Grammys performance of “All I Ask” was marred by technical difficulties, and “cried pretty much all day” after the performance.
The track, from her latest album 25, got off to a shaky start when her microphone went off for a couple seconds. There also appeared to be the sound of an out of tune guitar, which was actually because “piano mics fell on to the piano strings”, creating a strange sound.
“In fairness I would have cried if it went really well. If it had been a standout performance, I would have cried as well. I always cry. If it wasn’t live TV, I would have busted a joke, but because it was TV that’s why I couldn’t make the disaster my own. I don’t feel like it can go that much worse than the Grammys though, so I feel like I’m all right now. Anything that happens I can, like, dust it off”.
