Adele won the award for British Female Solo Artist at this year’s BRIT Awards and she took a moment during her speech to show her support for Kesha, who, this past Friday (February 19), was denied the ability to leave the recording contract she has with producer Dr Luke, who is accused of “mental manipulation, emotional abuse and sexual assault“.
Many female singers have shared words of support for Kesha, after the controversial decision, including Lorde, Lady Gaga, Lily Allen, Grimes, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato. Taylor Swift also donated $250,000 (the equivalent of £175,000) to help Kesha with her legal battle.
Tonight, Adele has joined the list. After having thanked the ladies in the category for which she won, she added: “I’d like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha”.
