Adele’s 25 has now sold over 3 million copies in the U.S. According to Nielsen Music, the popular album has sold more than 3 million in less than one week of being released. Originally, before the album’s release, the target for the album to be sold was pinned at one million which seemed feasible. There was speculation whether this will beat Britney Spears’ single-week album sales record for a female artist.
Britney Spears’ Oops!…I did it Again sold more than 1.32 million. After the one million target was achieved, prognosticators aimed at 2 million and whether it would beat NSYNC’s seemingly unbreakable record of 2.42 million when its album No Strings attached debuted 15 years ago in March 26, 2000.
After processing the first sales reports through November 25, Nielsen Music reports the Adele album has sold just over 3 million copies in the U.S. 25 was released on November 20 through XL/Columbia Records. It is Adele’s third studio album.
