A brand new single has landed from Afghan Sand Gang, an up and coming four piece from Mossley. The entrancing anthem titled “Fast Talk” dropped on Friday, September 27, previewing the band’s next upcoming project.
Afghan Sand Gang are a Greater Manchester-based quartet formed by Matt Burgess (synths/vox), Patrick Neville (guitar/vox) Will Owen (bass) and Johnny James (synths). They offer a one-of-a-kind blend of dreamy electro-pop tinted with shoegaze and Krautrock, which brings to mind the likes of Suicide, The Music and The XX.
In Spring 2018, the group released their debut EP Machine Music to rave reviews. Alternative music website Louder Than War wrote: “Afghan Sand Gang deliver what must be considered one of the debuts of the year”. The mini-album was followed by a single named “Glistener” accompanied by a music video to match.
Earlier this year, Afghan Sand Gang shared “Envy”, a commentary on a modern society plagued by radical ideologies and misinformation stemming from attention-grabbing headlines. The band’s music has met with positive response from fans and critics alike and received support from BBC introducing and XS Manchester.
Now, Afghan Sand Gang are back with “Fast Talk”. The tune combines infectious melody with politically engaged lyrics, giving fans the first taste of the group’s new upcoming album.
