This week saw the much-awaited release of alt-J’s newest album, This Is All Yours. Numerous tracks like “Every Other Freckle”, “Left Hand Free”, and “Hunger of the Pine” were already available for listening and downloading, prior to the release, but “Warm Foothills” is one of the most interesting and noteworthy tracks on the album. Embodying a very unique approach, alt-J boldly took a risk, and in my opinion, it paid off. The general feel to the song is very hymn-like with soft choir like background vocals, the song is a back and forth conversation between boy and girl. Each singer only expresses one phrase at a time, putting together piece by piece each sentence of the song. Listen here for yourself to see what you think of this innovative piece.
