“Dig Gold” is the secong single of Ian O’Sullivan‘s alternate-pop solo project simply called O’Sullivan.
With “Dig Gold” he is delivering us an honest, contemplative yet catchy tune. the single is bringing you back in time, in the ’80s with the memories of an early James Vincent McMorrow, between the sound of a vintage Casio synth as well as a guitar and O’Sullivan’s smooth voice.
The single was accompanied by a music video which was shot in black and white in the Budapest castle district. In it, we can see O’Sullivan pull back his everyday skin and dance. The concept of the video was thought by Budapest musician Dori Hegyi.
The artist wanted to express the duality between the inner child and the adult but also the dreamer and the realist. O’Sullivan said: “Dancing for yourself is something that every kid understands, but as an adult we feel like we need permission for it. We are judged. That’s bullshit.”
O’Sullivan is an Irishman who moved to Hungary in Budapest 11 years ago and today he seizes on his feeling as a wanderer and the cheap and insatiable hungriness of living in the 2020s. He explained: “We always feel like we are chasing something just out of reach, but I think we’re losing sight of the things that really matter – deep relationships with the people around us.”
In the pursuit of an ‘ideal’ life he completed a medical degree but finally followed his dream and became a recording musician in Budapest. In November 2020, he released his first single entitled “Little Bird” and he has now retun with this brand new single “Dig Gold”.
