Alternative hip-hop band Toad and the Stooligans have released the first single “Stevie Sees” from their forthcoming album Jesus Juice, due to be released in September 2020.
Toad and the Stooligans, who are based in Rhode Island, USA, distribute a unique sound with influences of indie, R&B and alternative. While listening to their music you could almost forget that they’re originally a hip-band. The Stooligans have a passion for different sounds and break boundaries between genres oftenly.
Moreover the band mainly produces their music mainly at home with a small crew of close friends. According to that their music is based on DIY processes and creative ideas. Since their very first beginnings they evolved a wild mix of jazz, alternative rock, R&B, pop, funk, soul and hip hop – now the group wants to refine their approach with their newest album Jesus Juice.
“Stevie Sees” is especially influenced by funk and soul and comes with hooky horns and a big chorus. Furthermore the energetic tune is featured by smooth instrumental backing and underpinned by a vibrant sound.
Co-vocalists Mike “Toad” Jencks and Dan Pomfret deliver a catchy vocal line and invigorating rap parts. The rhythm section of bassist Alex Caimano and drummer Matt O’Brien keeping the song grooving. And Daniel Hill on the keyboard brings up the funky soulful sound of “Stevie Sees”. Listen to the tune below.
