Anthony Mackie, David Harbour & Tig Notaro To Star In ‘We Have A Ghost’ For Netflix

Anthony Mackie, David Harbour, and Tig Notaro have signed on to star in We Have A Ghost, a family adventure movie being developed for Netflix.

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) will take a break from serial killers to direct the film, which is based on Geoff Manaugh‘s short story, Ernest. Landon has also penned the screenplay.

Mackie will play a man whose family becomes overnight sensations on social media after finding a ghost named Ernest haunting their new home. But when he and Ernest go rogue to investigate the mystery of the ghost’s past, they become a target of the CIA.

This news will certainly be a surprise to Landon’s fans, as pretty much his whole career has resided in the horror genre up until this point.

In addition to the films mentioned above, he also wrote four Paranormal Activity films, 2016 sci-fi horror Viral, and directed Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse. A family adventure movie did not look to be on the horizon, but here we are.

Mackie, Harbour and Notaro are hardly strangers to Netflix, having all worked with the streaming giant before. Mackie recently starred in Outside The Wire and The Woman In The Window, Harbour features on the streamer’s signature series Stranger Things, while Notaro played a helicopter pilot in Zack Snyder‘s recent zombie heist movie, Army Of The Dead.

The plot for We Have A Ghost sounds intriguing enough; we’ll see what Landon can do with a story about the power of social media mixed with the supernatural.

For those worried that he’s moving away from horror entirely, don’t fret. He’s writing the upcoming seventh installment of the Paranormal Activity franchise, while a third Happy Death Day film is being developed.
