Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan have signed on to star in the next film from directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. The filmmaking duo have made a splash on the indie scene over the last few years with their genre-bending thriller work such as Resolution, Spring, and their most recent film, The Endless.
The new film is called Synchronic, with Mackie and Dornan reportedly playing two New Orleans paramedics, “whose lives are ripped apart after encountering a series of horrific deaths linked to a designer drug with bizarre, otherworldly effects”.
Benson and Moorhead said in a statement:
“Being huge fans of the nuanced, brilliant work of Anthony and Jamie, this is a filmmaker’s wildest dream come true. They each possess an extraordinary depth of personal experiences, humour, and pathos that brings a massive wellspring of humanity to the battle-scarred partnership being portrayed. We’ve found the perfect collaborators to tell a bold, frightening, heartstring-tugging story”.
Benson has penned the script, and the film will be produced by XYZ Films. With Mackie and Dornan on board to star, this will definitely be Benson and Moorhead’s biggest film yet. If Synchronic can match the inventiveness of the directorial duo’s previous films, it should be just as good, if not better.
