Olympic boxer Anthony Ogogo has been confirmed for the ninth series of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. The announcement was made via the BBC’s twitter, which read “Our ninth celeb to hit the #Strictly dance floor is a knock-out! Introducing Olympic boxer @AnthonyOgogo“. The athlete seems excited about the possibility of wearing sequinned costumes, and said “I’ve faced a lot of tough opposition in the past, but I’ve never faced anyone as tough as the Strictly judges before!“, and that “My Mum is a massive fan of the show so I will be trying my hardest to make her proud“.
Anthony won a bronze medal for Team GB in the London 2012 Olympic Games after boxing since the young age of 12, winning numerous medals along the way. In 2010, Anthony competed in the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India in the Middleweight (75 kg) Division and won a silver medal. Additionally, Anthony secured his place on the GB Boxing team for the 2012 London Olympics, and after his success at the London 2012 Olympics, a post box was even painted bronze in honour of his medal. With this list of athletic accolades, we are expecting his lifts to be on point – need to put that muscle to good use. When the series kick off next month, Anthony will be joined by Peter Andre, Georgia May Foote, Jeremy Vine and Carol Kirkwood.
