Aubrey Plaza & Brian Tyree Henry In Talks To Star In ‘Child’s Play’ Reboot | Film News

The Child’s Play reboot that was announced last month and is being developed at MGM may have found its two leads. Per Collider, Aubrey Plaza and Brian Tyree Henry are in talks to star in the horror film that revolves around a killer doll.

Sources say Plaza is in line to play the mother to one of the kids who come across a technologically advanced doll that inhabits the soul of a serial killer, while Henry is likely playing the lead detective in the film, though that’s unconfirmed at this point.

If both sign on, this is a big coup for the reboot which is obviously aiming higher than just being another forgettable addition to the Child’s Play franchise, which already has seven films under its banner. Lars Klevberg (the upcoming Polaroid) is directing the project from a script written by Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury 2). IT producers David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith are producing.

It seems MGM may have just scoured the Fox network for their leads, as both Plaza and Henry have gained acclaim for their work on different Fox shows; Plaza for her role as Lenny on Legion, and Henry for playing rapper Paper Boi on Atlanta. Both also have major film roles coming up, especially Henry, who is set to appear in multiple films that will surely be major Oscar contenders this coming February.

Interestingly, Plaza and Henry even share the same agent. Perhaps that will come in handy when it comes to contract negotiations. The Child’s Play reboot will enter production soon in Vancouver.
