On Monday past (August 1) rapper and executive producer, AWKWORD, made a statement with new mixtape, The Best Of AWKWORD. “Cruel Intentions (Remix)”, featuring Skyzoo and Big Pooh, is a bonus track on the Bandcamp version of aforementioned compilation. The latter not only features hit singles, but also unreleased and rare material, too.
“Cruel Intentions (Remix)”, produced by Frank Drake of Kemba’s Negus fame, has a flighty backdrop, tinkling in the background. Scratches complement matter of fact raps, a weighty mix of current affairs, political commentary and pearls of street wisdom. Beyond midway comes a reinvigorating change and verse, the beat fitting those words from the heart.
