That summer feeling, we were looking for. This is what 20-year old UK-based Bajan singer and songwriter Jada O’Neill has just released with her new single titled “Can I Just“.
A colourful R&B offering with house music sensibilities, which was produced by Maniscooler, who comes approved by the likes of Pepsi and NBA 2k, and inspired by Kaytranada, “Can I Just” blends determined bass tones and electronic background, with Jada’s romantic voice. This is that one hit that transports its listeners into a late summer night spent dancing in the club.
The song also comes with a newly released music video, which was directed by Conrad Smart and Hubert Kotlicki for Leicester-based media hub HQ Media, and captures a first person POV offering on Jada singing (seemingly) to her significant other.
The warm melodies and lyrics of “Can I Just” are the results of Jada O’Neill’s Caribbean roots, being born in Barbados and raised between Antigua and Barbuda. Her love for singing and writing songs started when she was very young, at the age of 7, and her artistic path was influenced by legends such as Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone, Boogie, Adele, Koffee, and Ari Lennox.
Let’s check out the music video for “Can I Just”, which will make the perfect soundtrack to our August 2022.
