The Psycho prequel Bates Motel has been renewed by A&E for seasons four and five. The series is a contemporary prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film and depicts the lives of Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) and his mother Norma (Vera Farmiga) prior to the events portrayed in the film. Both Highmore and Farmiga have received critical praise for their role and recently received a nomination for the Critics Choice Award. Bates Motel is executive produced by Kerry Ehrin and Carlton Cuse. Production will begin later this year, and season four is expected to air sometime in 2016.
