If last year’s worldwide ‘summer must’ was to take a picture in the swimming pool riding a colourful inflatable unicorn or flamingo, this year Missoni have crafted a more fashionable and probably comfier item that you can’t miss.
Together with Funboy, they have launched a line of – yes, you are reading right – butterfly-shaped pool floats. But this might not surprise you, as the Italian brand is constantly exploring, from fashion to home furniture, always keeping the classical textures and shapes.
The price is not insignificant, but this is not a normal butterfly, it is not just a floating object that you can buy on the beach for £10 or less…the pool float is screen-printed by hand on both sides, with an orange and pink color scheme on one side and a blue and green palette on the other, respecting the tradition of the Italian house and its recognizable signature patterns.
Since 1953, when the two founders Ottavio and Rosita Missoni decided to set up their knitwear business, Missoni inaugurated its way to the top of the fashion panorama. The unmissable combination of pale colours, golden tones, stripes and geometric shapes is today exploited and combined with Funboy, creator of original luxury pool floats.
Funboy, on the other hand, is a three year old purveyor of original summer essentials based in California but have spread worldwide, founded by another family of creatives, as they describe themselves in their official website bio.
Blake Barrett, co-founder of Funboy, via a direct message on Instagram contacted Missoni’s creative director Angela and the game was over: a step into the future trends demonstrates the open minded style of the classical brand, not afraid of trying new fashion experiences.
