The film Bend It Like Beckham which dealt with gender roles in mainstream sport such as football, is about to hit the stage in musical form. It’s also worth remembering that the film was the breakthrough role for actors Parminder Nagra and Kiera Knightly. The film itself was set around east London, a very well integrated and multicultural part of the city, therefore we can expect the musical to deal with interracial relationships within its community, making two overall very important subject matters to engage the audience with. The show hits the stage in London on the 24th of June 2015, opening at the Phoenix Theatre on the West End, and will be directed by Gurinder Chadha who created the film.
