No doubt it’s just another day in New York City, but you wouldn’t know it looking at the faces of comic book fans when Benedict Cumberbatch, dressed majestically as Doctor Strange, walked into a comic book store.
Caught on the store’s CCTV, Cumberbatch strolls into JHU Comic Books and is immediately noticed by the patrons. Along with the director of Doctor Strange, Scott Derrickson, Cumberbatch posed for photos and autographs with fans in order to promote his latest movie.
Doctor Strange is one of Marvel’s upcoming Phase 3 films and their 14th in total. The story finds brilliant neurosurgeon Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), his career ended by a horrific car crash, roaming the world until he discovers a mystic known only as the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton). This powerful occultist teaches Strange magic in order to become a hero who can protect the world from a rogue magician (Mads Mikkelson).
Starring Cumberbatch, Swinton, Mikkelson, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rachel McAdams, Doctor Strange is a more mystical offering in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, concerning itself more with the occult than with extra-terrestrial threats. Doctor Strange will arrive in cinemas November 4 and you can see Cumberbatch’s comic store adventure below.
