It has been announced that Benedict Wong (Marco Polo, Prometheus) will take up the role of Wong, sidekick and manservant to Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Dr Strange in the upcoming movie. The film is based on the comic book series by artist Steve Ditko, which tells the story of former surgeon Stephen Strange, who after an accident that leaves him unable to perform surgery, encounters a mysterious being known as The Ancient One who’s teaching help him develop into the mystic superhero Dr Strange.
Aided by Wong, he serves as Sorcerer Supreme, protecting earth from occult and magical threats it faces. Aside from being a manservant, Wong also aids Strange in various healing and supernatural affairs, as well as caring for his body when he is in other dimensions. Directed by Scott Derrickson, the movie, as of now, will also star Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen, Scott Adkins and Amy Landecker (who’s roles in the film are yet to be fully disclosed).
Dr Strange is set to release in November of this year.
