German production trio KITSCHKRIEG has teamed up with London rapper ARZ for their new single “Baby,” which was released on March 23 via SoulForce Records.
“Baby” marks KITSCHKRIEG’s first collaboration with a UK artist and features a blend of garage and 90s dancehall, with steel drums adding an exotic touch. ARZ brings his signature romantic lyrics and infectious melodies to the track, resulting in the perfect summer anthem. The single has already gained traction on TikTok, with millions of views.
KITSCHKRIEG comprises producers Fiji Kris, Fizzle, and photographer/art director °awhodat°, who came together in 2014 through a shared flat in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Their music draws influences from their hometown’s electronic music scene and soundsystem culture and embodies minimalism in their engineering, visuals, photography, and artwork.
The group has worked with a range of artists, including global techno stalwarts Modeselektor and Jamaican dancehall icon Vybz Kartel, accumulating over a billion streams. Their debut album, released in 2020, featured two No.1 singles in Germany.
ARZ burst onto the UK scene in 2020 with his debut project “Love Letters,” which included hit singles “Alone With You” and “No Games.” Born in Hackney to English and Jamaican parents, he infuses vulnerability into his music, allowing him to express his feelings over trap-tinged production and warm R&B melodies. His fans include BBC R1’s Clara Amfo and Scott Mills.
The accompanying music video for “Baby,” directed by Dumi Siwo and produced by Daniel Evans, follows KITSCHKRIEG and ARZ on a car journey through London, where fans were able to dictate the plot in real-time via TikTok and Instagram polls.
KITSCHKRIEG has a stream of A-List collaborations locked and ready to go for 2023, with “Baby” serving as just a taste of what’s to come.
