Lewis Fitzgerald Releases Emotionally Charged New Single ‘Short Ride’

Lewis Fitzgerald, the 21-year-old singer-songwriter, has released a new single titled “Short Ride” featuring Wewantwraiths today through Relentless Records.

The emotionally charged track is the first release taken from his forthcoming debut EP, set to release in May 2023. “Short Ride” has already received major traction on TikTok with millions of views.

Fitzgerald was inspired to create the song after overhearing a conversation between a young woman and her mother while visiting an ill friend in the hospital.

The conversation was about making the most of life, and the concept of ‘live fast die young’ became the focal point of inspiration for the song. Fitzgerald used candid, heartfelt lyrics to confront the brevity of life and his melodic vocals to create the catchy pop-R&B ballad.

The song reflects the singer-songwriter’s ability to convey his personal experiences of heartbreak, regret, loss, and suicidal thoughts through his music.

This song represents some of my childhood and things I went through,” Fitzgerald said. “It’s kind of like my way of releasing that pain now through this sound, remembering how it was and how I thought at the time, it’s like me saying it to myself.”

Wewantwraiths, the elusive bally-clad midlands rapper, is featured on “Short Ride”. Wewantwraiths has collaborated with some of the rap game’s finest, including Tion Wayne, M Huncho, Unknown T, and Central Cee.

The accompanying music video for “Short Ride” follows Lewis Fitzgerald and Wewantwraiths in a car journey through London, where fans were able to dictate the plot in real-time via TikTok and Instagram polls.

Lewis Fitzgerald’s “Short Ride” is a significant follow-up to his previous remix of 2022 single ‘Love Me’ featuring Bizzy and Rxseboy.

With an ever-growing and engaged fanbase on social media, the pop-R&B singer is set for a busy 2023 with a series of singles, a debut EP, and a run of shows in the UK & Ireland, including a date at The Social hosted by Communion on April 20th and a string of performances as part of his ‘Ireland Pub Tour’.
